Ship wreck of the "Chrisso", a Cypriot freighter stranded on the reefs next to "Punta La Greca" on the night of Dec. 31 1974. Part of the ship (originally broken in two parts) still emerges. The bow lays on a sandy bottom (at a depth of about 7m), while the stern lays on its port on some rocks (at a depth of about -4m). It decays year by year with little surfacing of this 90 mt cargo. The site is fantastic for both fun and for photographers since the scenery is bright and colourful during calm seas and for divers that love nudibranches this is heaven! Not recommended for people that like depths (!) since this site hardly reaches -9mt (at the stern). For its history and more details we recommend the link of the Park http://www.amptavolara.com/en/territory/submerged-landscapes/wrecks/chrisso/. Given its shallow depth dive time is often over an hour long! There is a huge variety of organisms to see and often amberjack fish or barracudas swimming around. |
